Upon graduating from the University Of Lincoln in 2001 Gem received the young photographer of the year award for a moving body of work based on her family who live in rural France. She then went on to assist in London working for many varied photographers based in the fashion industry.

Gem developed her passion for music by co-presenting a internet radio show on Different Class Radio and promoting a bi-monthly night at Dalston’s Barden’s Boudior. This in turn inspired Gem to combine her two passions in life photography & music and to endeavour to capture artists in a natural light.

Gem has had her work featured in NME, Clash, Mojo, Loud & Quiet and DJ Mag. Notably one of her press shots for Gold Panda was used on the front cover of the Independent on Sunday magazine.
